My biggest challenge has been to make the transition from being a kid riding a bike at a high level to being a pro at a high level. I was junior World Downhill Champion in 2006. It was hard to motivate after being World Champ, you can’t win anything bigger than that title. After having that title it was hard to motivate to train and want to be a successful pro. There was no hunger there. The last year and a half has been great for my development. At the end of 2008 I decided the World Cup was where I wanted to be. I started out with a new direction in my physical training and proved that last season with some solid world cup rides. This last off season I have worked on some other aspects such as the physiological aspect of my sport and I am always fine tuning my nutrition and physical training. I think this recipe will help me get to the next level.
Winning World Championships in New Zealand in 2006. I also remember those awesome days out on an amazing ride or some days on pristine downhill runs.
I have done this a couple of times. But when you loop out a manual or wheelie in front of other people.

The products are amazing. All the DH tires we race on are grippy, have awesome puncture resistance and roll really well. I also love looking on people’s bikes at races all over the world and all you see is Maxxis. That shows how good the stuff is.
I like being at home in Christchurch, New Zealand with all my flat mates and friends. Most of my down time is over the southern hemispheres summer. I spend most of this time working, racing, riding all kinds of bikes like BMX, road, motocross and mountain bikes. I also enjoy some snow boarding when I get home at the end of the season in September and October. From around January I am preparing for the World Cups that typically start around May.

Anything with two wheels I love. BMX racing and dirt jumping. I also like the mellow stuff for my training such as road cycling but the gnarly stuff like motocross and enduro too.

Burritos are good. We have only one place in Christchurch and maybe even New Zealand that makes an awesome burrito. I like snacks the most though - like cookies, chips, crackers, sausage rolls, etc.

Nothing better than an off season whisky or bourbon and cola.

Ryan Dungey (motocross racer), because of his approach to the sport in his preparation, attitude and riding style.

Every World Cup Downhill is tough. The conditions are different every race, the tracks are the best, the competition is always top notch too.

Got some Black Keys on their off the “Attack and Release” album. Some Sweat Shop Union, Gabriella Cilmi, Muse and some La Roux.

Motocross both AMA in the US and GP in Europe

At a university studying or working in a bike shop.

My parents who supported me since day one, My partner Amy who does something awesome and funny every day. Also, the guys at Maxxis and Team Maxxis who have stood by me since 2006. Thanks also to my other sponsors Quiet Chaos clothing and Smith.
