Baron Rides Maxxis to WORCS Championship
10/19/2009Overcoming a mechanical problem which cost him a lap in the season’s final race, Beau Baron of Team MCR has taken the 2009 WORCS ATV championship. Round 8 of the series was held October 16-18 in Mesquite, Nevada.
Holding a 21-point lead going into the contest, Baron needed to finish in 11th place to gain the title. When his quad stalled and refused to restart during the second lap, team manager Mike Cafro towed him back to the pit for repairs. The delay pushed Baron from 5th to 21st place, but he steadily regained ground during the remainder of the race, riding his Razrs to a 10th place finish.
Baron has turned in consistently strong performances throughout the season. His six podiums included victories at Rounds 4 and 5.
