Baron Wins WORCS ATV Round 1
1/23/2012It was a promising start to the 2012 WORCS season: Beau Baron won Round 1 of the ATV series, held January 20-22 at Glen Helen MX in Devore, California. Baron was joined on the podium by his Maxxis/H&M Motorsports teammate Davi Haagsma, who took third place.
Haagsma’s Maxxis tires rocketed him off the line for the Pro holeshot. Baron, who raced despite a serious wrist injury sustained the previous weekend, had a good start and eventually gained the lead in the second lap. He later battled another rider for the front spot, but was able to fend him off for the win. Both riders trusted Maxxis Razr Xc rears and the Razr 2 fronts.
Round 1 was Baron’s first race on the Razr Xc, and he was pleased by their performance: “The best thing about them is the forward traction. Like when you are exiting turns, once you are straight and off a slide, the forward bite is phenomenal.”
Also riding Maxxis was Michael Cafro, who took fifth place in the Pro class. Keith Johnson took the Pro Am victory on Razr Xc fronts and rears. Ryan Piplic won the Side x Side Production 1000 class, with Baron in fifth place.
