Luna Pro Team Wins XTERRA Worlds, 2 USGP Cyclocross Events
10/26/2010Members of the Luna Pro Team rode Maxxis to the top of multiple podiums during the weekend of October 23-24. Shonny Vanlandingham won the prestigious XTERRA World Championship in Maui, Hawaii to claim the series’ top prize. Georgia Gould won both events at the Maxxis-sponsored USGP Cyclocross Derby City Cup in Louisville, Kentucky. Teammate Katerina Nash also scored a podium spot over the weekend, with third place in the UCI Cyclocross World Cup #2, held in Plzen, Czech Republic.
Vanlandingham earned her first XTERRA World Championship with the best time of her three years competing in the series. The Colorado native finished in 2:58:20 hours, winning the mountain bike portion of the contest with a one-minute lead by the finish line.
Gould won Rounds 3 and 4 of the USGP series, with her Round 3 performance propelling her into the series’ overall lead. Both victories were decisive; Gould held a two and a half minute lead by the end the third round and a lead of almost two minutes by the end of the fourth.
Nash stayed with the front group for much of the Cyclocross race. With 90 points so far, Nash is just ten points away from the series’ overall lead.
Maxxis congratulates Shonny Vanlandingham and Georgia Gould on their victories and is cheering on Katerina Nash as she chases the top spot in the UCI series.
