Michelle Kwan Is Kids’ Choice in China
9/30/2005Michelle Kwan has attended many awards ceremonies – and they’ve hardly ever involved slime. But Kwan didn’t mind being covered in goo in Beijing recently, because slime was part of the fun at China’s first-ever CCTV-Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Honors. Kwan was the top pick of children all over the country in the category of most admired athlete. Televised September 23, the awards show reached over 300 million households in China.
Kwan received similar recognition at Nickelodeon’s US ceremony, the Kids’ Choice Awards, in 2002 and 2003. The most decorated figure skater in U.S. history, her multi-year endorsement deal with Maxxis was announced in January. She has won five World Championships, along with eight consecutive and nine overall U.S. National Championships. She has also won two Olympic medals, a silver in 1998 and a bronze in 2002, and plans to compete in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.
Maxxis congratulates Michelle Kwan on her latest honor.
