Tuerck Wins Round 1 of Formula Drift and Takes Series’ Lead

4/13/2009

Make a contest tougher and some drivers might be thrown for a loop – but not Ryan Tuerck. When Formula Drift’s new format put 32 cars in tandem competition, Tuerck was in his element, taking his first pro win and the series’ lead. Round 1 of Formula Drift was held April 10-11 in Long Beach, California.

Tuerck held his own throughout the round of 32, the round of 16, the Great 8, the semi-finals and the finals to take first place, riding Maxxis MA-Z1 Drifts all the way. “The tires performed exactly the way I expected them to,” said Tuerck. “They’re super-consistent, and they’re the longest lasting tires I’ve drifted on. I did nine laps on a pair of tires.”

Brandon Bentley, automotive sales representative for Maxxis, wasn’t surprised by Tuerck’s performance: “When you combine the dedication and experience of Gardella Racing with the driving abilities of Ryan Tuerck, great things are bound to happen. What a great way to start his season: with his first professional win and the series’ points lead after one event!”

Maxxis congratulates Ryan Tuerck on an amazing start to the 2009 season and thanks him for choosing the brand of champions.
