Maxxis Sponsors 2007 Amgen Tour
2/05/2007Maxxis will sponsor the 2007 Amgen Tour of California, lending its support to an event which combines world-class cycling with the scenic wonders of California. The tour, expected to attract 18 internationally known teams plus more than a million spectators, will be held February 18-25.
Maxxis will again be the official automotive and bicycle tire of the eight-day tour, which in its second year is the largest professional cycling event in North America. The Amgen Tour will follow a 650-mile route through 12 host cities, including San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Long Beach.
As during last year’s inaugural event, Maxxis will also sponsor the Lifestyle Festivals to be held in the eight finish cities. Fans can take advantage of health and fitness tests at the Lifestyle Expos, collect great swag from sponsors and participating companies, learn about bicycle safety, and catch all the day’s action on the finish line big screen.
And when not busy watching the world’s best riders compete, spectators can see the DK BMX stunt team perform jaw-dropping tricks at each Lifestyle Festival, courtesy of Maxxis.
"As the second Amgen Tour approaches, the excitement at Maxxis is palpable," said Bicycle Assistant Manager Brad Klipping. "In just one year, the tour has broadened our expectations for how cycling can touch the lives of millions of fans, inspiring each of us to push harder. The tour is an incredible way to spread the message of how thrilling a healthy lifestyle can really be, because cheering on the professionals encourages everyone to participate in cycling, whatever their level. Maxxis is proud to be the official tire of the Amgen Tour for the second year. We hope that fans everywhere will share in the excitement."
